Social Media posts no grounds for investigation: Tudravu

Posts on social media about incidents of assault, bullying and other crimes are of no help to the Fiji Police Force.
Police Chief of Operations and Investigations, ACP Rusiate Tudravu, says they are powerless to act based purely on social media reports.
ACP Tudravu says Police need evidence and witness statements to act on any alleged crime.
He says people are resorting to social media to highlight criminal incidents and expect the Force to do something.
“We cannot conduct investigations without evidence without people coming out openly to register their concerns with us… and bullying is one of the areas that we are looking into – remember that we are just working in accordance with the Crimes Decree”
A case of alleged bullying and assault at a school was highlighted in the social media this week but ACP Tudravu says no formal complaint has been made at any of the stations.
