Smuggling of contraband into prisons continues to be a major concern for the Fiji Corrections Service.

Commissioner of Corrections, Commander Francis Kean hopes their new K-9 unit which will breed Labrador Dogs will assist in detecting smugglers.

“As you may be aware there tends to be an increase in the smuggling of contraband into our correctional centers and by having this capability, these Labrador dogs hopefully it will be a deterrent.”

Kean says this is a major boost for Fiji Corrections and at the same improves their service delivery.
