Smooth operation of sugar mills a priority: FSC

February 6, 2018 5:00 pm

The Fiji Sugar Corporation says one of their priority is to ensure the three sugar mills operate without any disruptions when the crushing season begins.

Chief Operating Officer, Navin Chandra, says they do not want a repeat of the past where lorry operators and drivers had to wait for long hours for cane to be crushed due to frequent breakdowns.

Chandra says compared to the 2016 season, last year there were a lot of improvements in the mill operations.

He says only major issue they faced was with the shredder machine at the Labasa Mill.

Chandra says the engineers are working hard during this slack season to fix the problem at the Labasa Mill.

He says a lot of money is being spent to ensure the sugar mills operate smoothly.
