SMEs need more support in Companies Bill

April 7, 2015 6:31 pm

The National Centre for Small and Micro-enterprises Development believes there is a need for more training about Small and Medium Enterprises for people living in rural areas.

The organisation representative Ravi Chand says efforts have been made but more needs to be done.

“In fact last year close to 1500 people went through that training last year Fiji wide and we definitely need to increase these workshops in the villages and in the remote islands.”

The comments were made as part of the Centre’s submission to the Parliamentary Standing Committee which is receiving submissions about the proposed Companies Bill.

The National Centre provides assistance to individuals and Chand suggests that empowering the SMEs sector will go a long way in building a stronger economy.
