Six hundred people in Nadi today received grants under the Micro and Small Business Grant scheme.
Recipient Nathan Achari says they’re grateful for the assistance from the government.
Achari says the $1,000 grant he received today will really boost his business.
“I really appreciate this grant and I will build a shed for my duck and chicken farm through this grant.”
Another recipient Aisake Nauremudu says that he could not believe that it was this easy to get the grant.
He says the business he has is the main source of income for his family.
Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Land and Mineral Resources Faiyz Koya told recipients that all big businesses started small but with careful planning, they have become successful.
“ By being here today, you have demonstrated that you are ready to continue with your lives either by starting a new business or by growing your existing business.”
Meanwhile, 50 people were also issued with new registered and renewed leases.
This included 22 Residential and Agriculture leases and 6 Commercial leases.
