Sixty students graduate from Makoi Vocational Training centre

Sixty students from the Makoi Women’s Vocational Training Centre today graduated with certificates after completing an eight weeks course.

Centre Manager, Shahista Shazna says these included women between the ages of 18-66 who were upskilled in the field of sewing, cooking and hydroponics.
Shazna says the programme aimed in helping women with ways of earning an income.

She adds that a total of five hundred and ten Fijians including the new graduates have graduated from the Centre so far since 2015.

Meanwhile, Director for the Department of Social Welfare and Chief Guest Rupeni Fatiaki commended th centre for implementing women friendly policies and projects to promote greater economic participation of women in national development.

He also highlighted that a grant of $200,000 has been given to support the administration and development of the centre
