Six hundred tenants had $20 arrears: PRB

February 13, 2019 12:47 pm

About six hundred tenants who have been provided with flats at the Public Rental Board last year had arrears of less than $20.

PRB Chief Executive Patrick Veu has confirmed this is the first time in history for the Board to have this on record.

Veu says the Board struggles to meet the required arrears.

However, he says they’re happy to have reduced tenant’s arrears from $97,000 to $91,000 last year.

It’s the lowest ever deduction in our rental arrears. Sometimes before arrears was above half a million but last year we managed to reduce it to $91,000 and we will further reduce that to the target this year of $85,000.

Veu has commended the effort by tenants in terms of payments.

The Chief Executive is also urging those that are yet to pay their full arrears to make arrangements if they’re finding difficulties.
