Six babies have died from viral Pneumonia this month, the latest being a six month old who died on Saturday.

The youngest victim so far has been a month old, found dead by her mother.

This has prompted authorities to sound a warning – seek medical treatment as soon as possible.

Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs caused by bacteria, fungal and viral infections… but there are also other causes.

People with Diabetes, kidney problems, HIV and heart conditions are most vulnerable to Pneumonia.

Director Intensive Care Dr. Vereniki Raiwalui says, we sometimes mistake the symptoms for the common flu or a fever…but these can quickly develop into Pneumonia if not treated early.
