Plans to build a new hospital at the Vunivivi Hill outside Nausori has been scrapped.

This comes after Nausori Town Council Chief Executive, Akhtar Ali confirmed the hospital will be built at the current health centre in town.

Ali says the initial proposal was to build the new hospital at Vunivivi however, plans have changed to cater for the growing number of Nausori residents.

“I believe that the new hospital project will commence on the same location. The current existing location which appears to be a very suitable location reasonably well suited for the residence of Nausori. So I believe a very comprehensive modern hospital will be coming up soon.”

Ali says they recently met with Health officials in Nausori regarding the new hospital and plans are in place to keep the hospital on the same location as it is convenient to the public.

The new modern health facility will be built vertically due to space constraints on the area.
