There has been a significant rise in the number of aggravated robberies in the country.

The Fiji Police Force has recorded 4 cases of aggravated robberies in the eastern division when compared to 2 last year.

The Southern division noted the highest increase of 24 cases of burglaries when compared to 14 last year.

Force spokesperson Ana Naisoro says people will have to protect themselves.

Police have noted that most offences occurred from 6pm to 6am and mostly on weekends.
