Shortage of registered surveyors a concern

There is a shortage of registered surveyors in the country.

Fiji Institute of Surveyors President Paserio Samisoni says this is becoming a major concern for them.

Samisoni says there are currently thirty-six registered surveyors.

“With the practicing surveyors that are in place yes there is a shortage especially with the senior surveyors most of them they are well over their fifty five and some still practicing at 70.”

Meanwhile, the Lands Ministry is encouraging more people to take up the profession.

Lands Minister, Faiyaz Koya says they are internally looking at the processes in terms of how they can make it easier for a surveyor to be a proper registered surveyor.
