The Fiji Sugar Corporation is working closely with Provincial Councils to engage the services of cane cutters during this crushing season.
Chief Operating Officer Navin Chandra says the shortage of cane cutters is still a problem for cane farmers and FSC.
Chandra says therefore, the Corporation is working with other stakeholders to ease this issue.
He says a total of fifty mechanical harvesters will be used this season to cut cane.
However it can only harvest cane on flat lands.
He says if all goes well the FSC is confident of getting cane cutters from villages such as Tailevu and others yet to be confirmed.
