The Commerce Commission will conduct a study to determine the most feasible and sustainable level of shipping fares and freight charges in Fiji.
Transport Minister Timoci Lesi Natuva says the last review of boat fares and freight charges was undertaken in 1992.
He says there is a disparity in the boat fares and freight charges levied by private companies and Government vessels.

The Minister says many Fijians travel by sea and it is imperative that a study is undertaken.
The outcome of the study will be brought back to Cabinet for its approval.
