Shazran Lateef granted bail by magistrates court

A prominent Suva lawyer alleged to have been in possession of methamphetamine on Tuesday night appeared in the Suva Magistrates court this afternoon.

Shazran Abdul Lateef is charged with one count of in possession of illicit drugs.

Lateef was arrested on Tuesday night following a drug raid at a hotel in Suva.

The raid was carried out by police officers after a tip off from a member of the public.

Lateef was produced in the Magistrates court this afternoon.

The prosecution did not object to his bail, however, asked for strict bail conditions.

Lateef was released on a personal bail of $5,000 with two sureties in the same sum.

He has been ordered not to interfere with the witnesses and not to re-offend.

He has been imposed with a travel ban and has been ordered to surrender his traveling documents.

The matter has been adjourned to September 12th for plea.
