Sharing information is vital to enhancing technical skills and developing capacity for effective financial scrutiny.

Chief Guest Ratu Epeli Nailatikau highlighted this while opening the Commonwealth Association of the Public Accounts Committees Regional workshop in Suva today.

Ratu Epeli believes the most effective way in which Public Accounts Committee’s performance in every jurisdiction can be improved is by developing ways to exchange information.

“PACS in particular need, in order to succeed, to have the means to exchange information and ideas to enable them to keep up to date with important developments, changing standards and best practices as they emerge.”

The two-day workshop is the first of its kind in the region and participants are expected to share their experiences and also taking part in exercises to improve information exchange and resource capacity.
