More than five hundred inmates in prisons around the country committed sexual offenses.
Assistant Commissioner of Prisons Apimeleki Taukei has confirmed Sexual Offense tops the list of all crimes committed by inmates.
Taukei says one of the biggest contributing factor is the use of social media.
“One is the freedom of social media ,anyone can just watch all sorts of pictures over the social ,media and there is no control of it even young kids have also access to it and perhaps the other one is that most of the offenses being committed by those living in a very remote locations.”
Two hundred and twenty-two offenders are from the Central and Eastern Division, one hundred and seventy one in the Southern Division, sixty-seven in the North and sixty-three in the western division .
