Only seven approval letters have been returned to the Land Transport Authority.

These letters belong to those who provided false documents to attain a taxi permit.

Board Chair Vijay Maharaj says with the grace period ending last month, they are considering legal actions on the remaining one hundred and fifty-five recipients.

We have cross check, we have verify and we are confident that in fact those 122 were not genuine applicants. Some of them will be taken to task, some of them will be criminally charges as well because making a statuary declaration is a very serious thing so actions will be taken either by LTA, or Police or FICAC.

The LTA issued over one thousand four hundred provisional taxi permits in July.

Meanwhile, successful applicants in the Western Division can get their approval letters from the Authority’s Lautoka branch from tomorrow.
