Adequate trained health personnel are required to deliver quality health service.

Speaking in the parliament yesterday, Ministry of Health Jone Usamate says an allocation has been put aside to boost this act.

With the increase of $11.3m in the Health Ministry allocation, 150 doctors and 280 nurses will be established next year to cater for health service demand.

“One million dollars has been set aside for training and development of our medical staff. This is absolutely critical. There will be a strong focus on developing our local medical personnel who wish to specialize; money has been made available for that in their training program.”

The Ministry of Health was allocated $280m in the 2016 Budget.
