Serulagilagi steps down as chairman

Josefa Serulagilagi has confirmed to FBC News that he is stepping down as chairman of the Public Service Commission.

Serulagilagi, whose term ends at the end of the month, will not be reapplying for health reasons.

He has been PSC chair for the last four years from 2010 and during his tenure; the public service has gone through a restructure aimed at right sizing from the implementation of 3 year contracts to the introduction of performance management systems.

PSC Information Officer Bernadette Bainimarma says a full press statement from the outgoing Chairman will be released later this month upon approval of the Minister and this will also include the issue of the extension of the contracts of several PS’s.
