The Senior citizens Day was launched in Suva this morning.

Local Government Minister Col. Samuela Saumatua was chief guest at the event held at the Senior citizens Park.

The minister commended retirees and other senior citizens for their contribution to Fiji and all that they have done in the years gone by.

He also highlighted that celebrations are being held across Fiji in honour of our older generation.

The minister says the government recognises the needs of senior citizens and major steps will be taken to ensure their welfare is taken care of.
