Senior citizens welcome pension scheme

November 23, 2012 4:02 am

Some senior citizens say they’re grateful for the government’s decision to pay pension to people over the age of 70.

The Government has allocated $3.2 million for the plan announced in the 2013 national budget yesterday.

The scheme applies to senior citizens who’re non-FNPF members or those who have worked but were never been part of a superannuation scheme.

Here are some comments from our senior citizens:

“Very happy government is thinking of the oldies to be pensioners…"

“I spent this afternoon watching TV when I heard that pension for over 70 years, I was very proud of it…”

“Surely there’s a large number of more then 20 thousand people in that category especially the farmers – some of those retired maybe businessmen or private sector people so they’ll be benefitting from that…”
