Selfies for youth campaign

June 25, 2014 7:04 pm

For those of you who love to take pictures of yourself and post it up on Social Media…you can now use those selfies to support a United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) proposal for a specific goal on youth in the post-2015 global development agenda.

UNFPA Representative in the Pacific Laurent Zessler says the campaign is designed to gather millions of selfies from young people, in support of UNFPA’s appeal to feature young people’s needs prominently as part of post 2015 development agenda.

“The UNFPA and all the UN agencies we think that we should have a specific goal relating to youths. So, if you look at our website, this is something we want for youths, especially the Youths of the Pacific, so send a selfie in.”

The current eight Millenium Development Goals (MDG’s), which are to be achieved by 2015 do not have an agenda on youth.

The campaign closes on August 12.
