President of the Fiji Hotels and Tourism Association Dixon Seeto commends the government for promoting the Small and Medium Enterprise or SMEs in Fiji.

Seeto says along with infrastructure development and improving roads, the development of SMEs is also a sector that needs expansion.

“In other developing countries SMEs are by far a large part of the economic engine for the country. They also provide a lot of investment and you look at these countries many have developed from SMEs; helped of course by the government and its policies. So I think we’re trying to clone that in Fiji.”

He added that it’s also encouraging to see that women in particular are being encouraged to take up SMEs.
