Seek medical attention: Sahukhan

The Health Ministry is advising Fijians to seek medical attention if they start to suffer from some dengue fever symptoms.

Acting National Advisor for Communicable Diseases, Dr. Aalisha Sahukhan says with more than eight hundred confirmed dengue cases around the country- Fijians need to be alert.

“If you have the symptoms of dengue fever which is the sudden onset of a very high fever, a very bad headache, pain behind the eyes, really bad joint pain and you don’t feel like eating, feel very tired or feel like vomiting. Those are the symptoms of dengue fever and you must go see a health professional straight away. What that doctor will do is asses to see if you have the danger signs of dengue fever which could show that you are getting sever dengue.”

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry will take strict action against those who fail to clean their compounds and clear breeding grounds.

National Advisor Environmental Health, Dip Chand also stressed that Fijians need to understand the importance of keeping their surroundings clean to avoid becoming infected.
