Second suspect in drug trafficking case arrested

Police have arrested a man believed to be the second suspect.

This is the man believed to be involved in the alleged transportation of illicit substances onboard our national carrier.

Police have confirmed to FBC News the suspect is now in custody and is being questioned in Nadi.

However, no other details have been released.

The suspect is alleged to have been an accomplice of Frederick Epeli – a suspended airline employee charged with drug trafficking offences.

Epeli is charged with one count of unlawful importation and exportation and one count of Unlawful possession, manufacture, cultivation, and supply contrary to Section 5(b) of the Illicit Drugs Control Act 2004.

Epeli and an accomplice are alleged to have without lawful authority facilitated in exporting two parcels weighing more than two kilograms of cocaine and illicit drugs on December 23rd, last year.

It’s also alleged on the same day, the suspended airline employee and his accomplice engaged in the dealing for the transfer, transport, supply, use, manufacture, and sale of cocaine and illicit drugs.

The second suspect is alleged to have supplied the illicit drugs and facilitated the exchange.
