More than 23,000 people affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston have been assisted under the first phase of the Help for Homes initiative.

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Rosy Akbar says another $20 million has been allocated from the 2016/2017 National Budget and the second phase of the program will continue in the areas that had missed out.

Akbar says they will start the next phase for those areas which has not been covered yet.

Government spent $88 million to assist people in the areas mostly affected by TC Winston.

This including Koro, Taveuni, Southern Vanua Levu, Northern Viti Levu, Ovalau and Vanua Balavu.
