Second juvenile on sedition charge released in bail

Judge Justice Paul Madigan has granted bail to the second juvenile charged with sedition and urging political violence.

The ruling was read out in the Lautoka High Court this morning by Justice Thusara Rajasinghe

The pair are jointly charged with 13 others some of whom are their relatives but they have been detained separately at the Suva Boys Centre.

Justice Madigan says they were foot soldiers who played no part in decision making.

He says the DPP’s submission of concern that the pair was found 1 km away from the training grounds causes him no alarm whatsoever.

Justice Madigan laid strict bail conditions which include that the pair not be with not more than three people at one time excluding family members, bail of $500 and a surety of $100 for each of their mothers.

The pair is to report at the Tavua Police Station every day.

Their case will be called in the on the 14th of October.
