The search continues for the third victim of the ill-fated Kaiwai which has already claimed the lives of two men.
FBC News can confirm that of the two dead, one is a South Korean National and the other a Fiji national.
The captain of the cargo barge we understand has been hospitalized and the surviving 8 persons were transported to Lautoka yesterday.
The Fiji Navy and Police today worked together on an aerial search and were able to identify the approximate location of where the barge went down.
A coastal search for the missing man who’s believed to be another South Korean national is being conducted by Police, Rescue Fiji and the villagers of Bukama and Dalomo.
The cargo barge Kaiwai reportedly sunk in rough seas while travelling to Bukama Island in the Yaswas.
Police and the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji continue to investigate the fatal accident.
