The recent donation of an electronic coconut scraper to the Sinuvaca Young Women’s Club on Koro Island has helped their business venture thrive.
Worth $1,400 – the scrapper was donated by the Ministry of Youth.
Club Assistant President, Salanieta Latianara says they have a virgin oil business and scraping coconuts using the normal scrapers is a lengthy process.
Latianara says since they are supplying 40 litres of virgin coconut oil a month to Coconuts Fiji they really needed an electric coconut scraper to speed up their production and help meet the demand.
Revenue generated from the virgin coconut oil business will facilitate fund the building of flush toilets in the village.
