School receives timely donation

Penang Sangam Primary School, which suffered almost 95 percent damage during Tropical Cyclone Winston, received a donation of desks and chairs from the Latter Day Saints charity.

The donation included 280 desks, 30 swivel chairs, three smart boards, two tables all worth approximately $10,000.

Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services Veena Bhatnagar who is also a former scholar of the school welcomed the timely donation.

She says there is a need for such good Samaritans to care for the needy and the disadvantage.

Brother Frank Stanford of the LDS Charity said he was pleased to assist the school as he was duty bound to reach out to the needy.

The school head teacher Rajesh Kumar says the donation will definitely make an impact on the education of the children.
