Scholarships discussed at provincial meeting

July 12, 2012 7:27 pm

The Lomaiviti Provincial Council has asked the I-taukei Affairs Ministry to consider geographic factors when awarding scholarships.

Council Interim Chair Joji Qaranivalu says students in the province have limited access to resources and this should be taken into account.

“Say a child from Gau in Form 7 and another at Adi Cakobau School The disparities of resources, availability of staff, teaching materials and access to technology – when both – the one at Gau and the one at Sawani apply – it is common knowledge the one in Sawani is bound to score more marks.”
