By 2020 Saint John’s Association Fiji plans to train at least one person in a family to know about basic first aid treatment.
Executive chairman Dr Ratu Vereniki Raiwalui says they have already started working with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and corporate companies.
Raiwalui says training more people who are able to provide basic first aid is their utmost priority.
What we are trying to do is achieve coverage in Fiji. So we are also teaching our school children and we are training them. We are working with the education ministry and we are also including our secondary school students in our volunteer programme. We also have a brigade for schools.
Raiwalui says the first line of help that is provided before help from medical professionals is vital.
