Ruling on Nikolic yacht expected in 10 days

March 1, 2019 4:30 pm

The Suva High Court will rule later whether the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service will be allowed to sell the yacht ‘Shenanigans’.

The court will also rule whether the FRCS will also keep the $30,000 in undeclared currency found.

The yacht was involved in the case against John Nikolic who has been charged for drug related offences.

John Nikolic’s lawyer told the court the FRCS summons was not done properly.

The Defense also argued that according to the law, the seizure should have been made in the presence of the yacht’s master.

Nikolic’s lawyer also told the court that his client was not served a notice of the seizure and that the case had been called twice earlier which saw the absence of the defense counsel.

The FRCS lawyer then sought orders from the court for the disposal of the vessel and the $30,000.

The judge is expected to rule on these applications later this month.
