Chief Executive Naisa Tuinaceva says keeping this in mind they have now made some changes in the policies for provisional license holders.

Tuinaceva says they will now be strict on these drivers.

“Cases like they will not be allowed to carry passengers, or number of passengers, the kind of routes that they are driving on – because they are quite junior, quite new and they must not be mixed up with the professional drivers who have been there for long – we are reviewing that. There will also be restrictions on the hours of driving – the red ‘P’ now you will not be allowed to drive after 10pm.”

Tuinaceva says these provisional drivers will also be only allowed to drive around with one passenger who needs to be a driver.

He says in the past many of these drivers have been driving with many passengers and have been involved in accidents.

The road death toll now stands at 60.
