Roundabout upgrade to last six weeks

November 16, 2017 5:24 pm

It will take six weeks to complete the pavement upgrade on the Nabua/Mead Road and Grantham Road/ Ganji Road roundabout in Suva.

FRA Chief Executive Jonathan Moore says the project as part of the Suva arterial road upgrade project was delayed as they didn’t want to disrupt students sitting examinations.

He says they moved it this week because the 2017 final school term was coming to an end.

“But there will be congestion and there will be disruption. We can’t afford that because we’re actually taking a whole section of the road to repair them so what we decided to do was delay it to the school holiday period so the effect on the road will be lessened.”

Mead Road from Nabua roundabout to Oneata Street in Samabula has been closed and will be open on December 15th.

The public are advised to use Nabua and Sukanaivalu Road as a detour to access onto Mead road and Ratu Mara Road.

Karsanji Road in Vatuwaqa will also be closed from the Grantham roundabout until December 15th.

Motorists are advised to use Namena Road and Fletcher Road as detour options to access onto Grantham road and Ratu Mara road.
