Rotumans not registered to vote

Many Rotumans on Rotuma have not registered to vote in the general election and Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama is not pleased about this.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has showed total disappointment with the work carried out by the Fiji Elections Office.

With only a few hours on the island Bainimarama was told a large number of Rotumans here have not been registered.

Making it worse there was no official from the Elections Office that was part of his delegation.

He is also disappointed with government services on the island.

Bainimarama whilst speaking to some of his senior officials says government officials have come in big numbers to Rotuma but he is not happy with the services on the ground.He termed services as eight to five jobs.

Bainimarama says it seems civil servant are only here to celebrate Rotuma Day and has totally forgotten about the work they are tasked to do.

He adds remote less is not an excuse as providers need to deliver what is expected of them .Bainimarama has warned he wants to see improvement on his next visit to the island.

The Fijian Elections Office is yet to comment on the issue.
