Roadside vendors receive proper stalls

At least 30 road stalls have been built around the country to assist market vendors.

Minister for Industry and Trade, Faiyaz Koya handed over the stalls beginning from Naboro Village, Sovi Bay, Batiri in Sigatoka, Lomawai, Sigatoka and finally at Nawai, Nadi.

Nawai Market vendor Noormala Devi says the stall will assist them significantly as for the past 30 years they’ve struggled to sell from makeshift stalls.

“Before we had to bring the table and the stand and in the afternoon when we finish we have to take it back because we could not leave it behind.”

Koya says it’s a clean a safe stall for these vendors who rely on selling their produce for a living.

The Ministry is looking at building more than 100 stalls around the country.
