Road closures in effect after heavy downpour overnight

Several roads have had to close after heavy rainfall last night affected access on Rewa, Korovou and Sigatoka.

The Fiji Roads Authority says in Rewa, traffic has been restricted with Waiwatu crossing, Waidradra crossing flooded and Wainavida crossing on Lutu Vuisiga road washed out.

In Korovou, roads have been closed in Nabilo, Navunisole, Waimalua, Wairua, Naboro and Colata crossing.

Dawsamu road, the major river embankment scouring at 9km, access to Bureiwai is restricted to all vehicles.

In Sigatoka, Matewale crossing on valley road is close as well as Rabaraba crossing.

Multiple sections of Namoli road is accessible to four wheel drives as well as Red hill near Draubuta road junction on Nakoro road.

FRA contractors have been mobilized to the various sites to assist with restoring access once floodwaters recede.

Motorists are advised not to drive into water of unknown depth and current, as this can be life threatening.
