FRA urges motorists to drive cautiously

The Fiji Roads Authority is advising motorists to drive cautiously amidst the wet weather conditions .

This conditions can easily result in surface flooding in low lying areas.

Chief Executive Jonathan Moore say the Princes Road towards the Rewa roundabout end has been reduced to a single lane due to a slip.

He adds the Nabukavesi Road in Navua is closed to all traffic due to wash out and travelers are advised to take a detour road that connects to Mau, Qilai and Nabukavesi on one end and Veivatuloa on the other loops onto Queens Road.

The Old Queens Road in Wainadoi is now closed, the Namosi and Calia road has also been closed while the Waiyanitu and Saliadrau road are open only to 4WD.

FRA advises that the Waisomo, Waidradra, Waiwatu, Waisa crossing and the Savu Road in Naqali are now closed due to flooding.

Moore says several roads continue to be affected in the Central Division due to surface flooding caused by the heavy rain.

Motorists are advised to avoid driving through flooded water as the depth is hard to gauge.
