The Fiji Roads Authority is carrying out surveys on the ground for the four-lane Lautoka to Nadi project.

Chief executive Jonathan Moore says the project which will be built requires a lot of planning.

Moore says the road is congested at the moment which affects traffic flow.

He says the traffic congestion is evident during the cane crushing season when lorries add to the traffic problems.

“A project like the Nadi to Lautoka four lane needs a lot of logistical planning. We have to make sure the road stays open and there is no congestion while we are building the new road which is actually not that easy, it’s very complex.”

He says FRA is carrying out surveys for the existing roads to see how better other routes can be accommodated.
