FRA puts out tender for repair of Lomaloma slip

December 6, 2019 5:40 am

The Fiji Roads Authority has put out a tender for the repair of the Lomaloma slip, along the transinsular highway in Vanua Levu.

The works will include the design and construction of repairs to the slip, stormwater harvesting and drainage, and road construction.

Over the last three years, heavy rainfall has forced the particular road portion to sink more than three meters below the road level.

The FRA earlier told FBC news, spring water flows under the road and is the main cause of the roadside.

The Lomaloma slip was initially reinstated back in 2014 and 2015.

Following TC Winston in 2016, the road surface has dropped and deformed to a large extent.

Since then, traffic has been diverted onto a temporary side carriageway.
