FRA concerned with drivers behavior

Drivers continue to deliberately ignore safety advice and speed through road work says the Fiji Roads Authority.

Two accidents have been recorded along the four-lane project at Nakasi on Kings Road in the last 12 hours.

Chief executive Jonathan Moore says the law requires motorists to obey the reduced speed zones through roadwork.

Moore says the FRA has already suspended night work and if the issue of speeding continues, they may end up closing sections of the road or installing physical speed controls.

He says they have asked the Land Transport Authority to consider putting traffic cameras once the work is complete on the entire length to help manage the issue of speeding.

Moore says they are working with the Police Force to address speeding issues through roadwork zones.
