Fifteen staff from the Fulton Hogan Hiways participated in a Defensive Driving Course conducted by the Land Transport Authority.

LTA’s Road Safety Manager, Timoci Satakala says it’s important for drivers to undergo such training as it teaches safe and accident-free driving techniques.

“Most importantly, the defensive driving classes will improve driving skills, reiterate driving laws and rules and make better drivers of people,”

Satakala says that the participants need to be motivated and reminded on safety.

He says the programme is divided in three parts.

One is for the new group two drivers that have come in to the system, the second is for those who need public service vehicle licenses and the third is the practical part, where drivers drive on the road.

FHH Asset Manager, Viliame Vatuwaliwali says this course emphasized commitment to honesty, being a courteous driver, being aware of their surroundings, the driving conditions and taking pre-determined actions to avoid incidents.
