The Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation is exploring all possible avenues to assist our economy.

The local economy has been severely battered by COVID-19 and the recent TC Yasa.

Chief Executive, Kameli Batiweti, says work on economic recovery does not fall solely on the Government, and it requires input from the private sector amongst others.

He adds these bodies play an equally imperative role in rebuilding our economy.

“It’s all about building bridges, new bridges and fortifying the old ones and to ensure the sustainability of the economy going forward.”

Batiweti says for the economic recovery to start, the private sector and others should consider aligning their interest in assisting the government.

“Our position may differ. We want to arrive at a certain position but all our interest are the same and that is to create more businesses in Fiji, bring back employment and ensure that our economy gets back to where it was.”

The FCEF says they will be able to gauge a better picture of the current economic recovery efforts by the end of the first quarter.
