Ro Teimumu extends message of goodwill for Ramadhan

The Leader of Opposition – Ro Teimumu Kepa has extended a message of good will and well wishes to all the faithful followers of Islam on the dawn of the month of Ramadhan.

Ramadhan heralds the 40 day period of fasting. It is a reminder of the universal values that all the major faiths of this world share such as humanity, compassion, love, respect, penance and other qualities of righteousness that keeps us pure and on the path to salvation.

Ro Teimumu noted that for Fiji, the advent of Islam since the indenture period has become part of our diverse society, adding that the high moral and social values espoused by the faithful has enabled us to carry out a social revolution in spheres such as education, agriculture and commerce.

The end of Ramadhan will climax with celebration of Eid ul-Fitr, an annual feature of the Islamic calendar of events. It has a special significance for those who follow and take a deep interest in the teachings of Islam.
