Transport Minister Jone Usamate has stated that they will ensure the rights of passengers boarding a vessel, be protected at all times.

Usamate says there have been numerous complaints received from people in the maritime islands about some conditions being laid out for them during this festive season.

Speaking to FBC News, Usamate says the Maritime Safety Authority has been tasked to look into the issue and ensure the safety of passengers on board any vessel.

With a lot of concerns raised, Usamate has directed MSAF to ensure that vessels are in a good condition before taking passengers in.

Numerous complaints were received earlier this week as many people were turned away from jetties as vessels were overloaded.
