More than three hundred soldiers and senior health officials that have served in the war torn Middle East have been praised and acknowledged for their work in Golan Heights.
A parade and a church service were held at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua yesterday to commemorate their achievements.
RFMF Deputy Commander Brigadier Mohammed Aziz has commended the men and women for a challenging year of service.
“We salute you for your commitment in serving for World Peace in serving the RFMF, your contribution has brought in smiles amongst many faces in the places and regions we have served in.”
General Service medals were also awarded to some officers that have served in peacekeeping duties for more than a year.
Brigadier Aziz also highlighted that some of these officers were members of the 45 soldiers that were captured in Golan in the last 12 months.
Some peacekeepers from the contingent have been deployed to Lebanon and are expected to return home in a month.
Others are already undergoing training as replacements in Nadi, to be ready to fly out next month.
