Retirees are productive

Retirement could be the start of another flourishing career.
Labour Minister Jone Usamate made these comments as he urged retirees to get back into the workforce and help Fiji become productive.
He says Fiji’s civil service which has a workforce of twenty six thousand only permits people to retire by the age of fifty five.
In opening the retirement workshop in Nakasi yesterday, Usamate says crossing fifty five and receiving a monthly pension from the Fiji National Provident Fund does not necessarily mean an end to your once embellishing career.
He says senior citizens have time and again contributed to a successful Fiji and there is a need for greater commitment from government and the private sector.
