An eighty-seven-year old retired driver convicted of raping an 11-year-old girl in Nasinu has been sentenced to ten years imprisonment a while ago.

The father of six committed the offence in May 2016.

High court judge justice Salesi Temo while sentencing the man said he cunningly exploited the naivety of a child.

The victim was a tenant in his house. The court heard that the man called the 11 -year -old girl in his room and raped her.

Justice Temo said that the court will keep passing long term sentences.

The high court judge also said that the man showed no regard to her to lead a peaceful life.

The man will have to serve seven year sentence before being eligible for parole.
