The restructures of the Ministry of Agriculture will include the decentralization of decisions to regions according to Permanent Secretary David Kolitagane.
Speaking during a staff workshop in Nadi, Kolitagane says the organization structure has not been revised for over 2 decades and has not changed despite the increasing budget and reforms in the sector.
“We have a strategic view of how the Ministry will be re-shaped. Restructuring is necessary for us to enhance our business functions, work practices and improve services to all our key stakeholders, farmers and the Fijian people who use and depend on our services, and our staff.”
According to Kolitagane, they are going to decentralize their financial processes, making the procurement of goods and services more timely.
He says they will also decentralize their HR processes to make sure the divisions recruit on time and improve services.
